PAMELA REYMAN

Ms. Reyman’s impressive performance career began in 1977. Born in New York City, Ms. Reyman began her dance training at the age of 15 under the instruction of Istvan Rabovsky. Through intensive study, her professional career began with Dennis Wayne's Dancers in New York City at the age of 18. After leaving Dancers, Ms. Reyman performed as a principal dancer with Cleveland San Jose Ballet, Atlanta Ballet, and Dayton Ballet. As an artist, Ms. Reyman is recognized for her classical interpretations in the roles of Tzarina, Sugar Plum, Dew Drop, Dying Swan, Giselle, Juliet, and Cinderella. Ms. Reyman's wide dramatic range was highlighted in such roles as The Accused in Agnes DeMille’s Fail River Legend, Emilia in Jose Limon’sThe Moor’s Pavane, The Woman in his Past in Antony Tudor’s Lilac Garden, the Partisan in Kurt Jooss’ The Green Table, and the Fairy Godmother in Christian Holder’s An American Cinderella. Ms. Reyman has performed in works by such artists as John Butler, Rudi Van Dantzig, Dennis Nahat, Lar Lubovitch, Kurt Jooss, Antony Tudor, Agnes DeMille, Donald Byrd, George Balachine, Gerald Arpino, Flemming Flindt, Michel Fokine, Leonide Massine, Fernand Nault and many others including ballets by her husband and Artistic Director, Jeffrey Graham Hughes. In 1990, she performed in Scotland at the Edinburgh Festival in Flemming Flindt’s The Overcoat with Rudolph Nuryev.

Ms. Reyman has worked as Interim Ballet Mistress for the Hong Kong Ballet and was also on the staff of the Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts. She has restaged Jeffrey Graham Hughes' Upon Ray’s of Light for the Dayton Ballet and created costumes for Hughes' balletTroika. From 1988-1994, she was a permanent guest artist and teacher with Ballet Arts/Ballet Tuscon in Tucson, Arizona. Ms. Reyman also taught as a guest artist at several small schools in the United States. She has participated in New Steps, a choreographic workshop in Ohio, and Festival of Life, a benefit for adults and children with AIDS in Atlanta.

Ms. Reyman is very grateful to her many teachers who have inspired her throughout her career as an artist and a teacher. She would especially like to thank Maggie Black and Alonzo King.

Ms. Reyman is married to artistic director Jeffrey Graham Hughes, and the two have a daughter, Maya Esperanza.
